About

FDVIX.US is the ticker symbol for the Fidelity Dynamic Volatility Index Fund. It is an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that seeks to track the performance of the Dynamic Volatility Index (DVIX), which is a benchmark designed to measure the implied volatility of the U.S. equity market. The fund invests in financial instruments such as volatility futures contracts to gain exposure to the DVIX. Investors use FDVIX.US to potentially profit from increases in market volatility or to hedge their existing portfolios against volatility risk.

Factors

VIX Futures Prices: FDVIX's price is directly tied to the prices of near-term VIX futures contracts. Changes in these futures prices drive FDVIX's value.

Market Volatility Expectations: Expectations of future market volatility, as reflected in VIX futures, strongly influence FDVIX. Higher expected volatility leads to increased demand and price.

Time Decay: FDVIX experiences time decay (theta). As time passes, its value erodes because it is an ETN tracking near-term VIX futures.

Supply and Demand: Like any ETN, FDVIX's price is affected by supply and demand in the market. High demand can push the price higher and vice versa.

Contango/Backwardation: The shape of the VIX futures curve (contango or backwardation) impacts FDVIX. Contango (futures prices higher than spot VIX) generally hurts FDVIX as it rolls futures contracts at a loss.
