About

XCB.TO is the Horizons US 7-10 Year Treasury Bond ETF. It is an exchange-traded fund listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and managed by Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. This ETF aims to replicate, to the extent possible, the performance of the Solactive US 7-10 Year Treasury Bond Index, net of expenses. The index tracks the performance of U.S. dollar-denominated treasury bonds with remaining maturities between 7 and 10 years. As such, XCB.TO provides Canadian investors with exposure to a portfolio of medium-term U.S. government bonds.

Factors

Bond Yields: As XCB.TO tracks Canadian corporate bonds, rising yields generally decrease its price and vice-versa. Higher yields make existing bonds less attractive.

Credit Spreads: Widening credit spreads (the difference between corporate and government bond yields) indicate higher perceived risk, lowering XCB.TO's price.

Interest Rate Changes: Broad shifts in the Bank of Canada's interest rate policy influence bond prices, impacting XCB.TO. Rate hikes pressure prices down.

Inflation Expectations: Rising inflation erodes the real value of fixed-income investments, potentially lowering demand for XCB.TO and its price.

Economic Growth: Strong economic growth may reduce demand for safer assets like corporate bonds, potentially slightly negatively affecting XCB.TO.
