Factors

Interest Rates: Rising rates typically decrease bond values, lowering VFSIX's NAV, while falling rates increase bond values, raising the NAV.

Credit Risk: Deterioration in the creditworthiness of issuers within the fund can lead to bond downgrades and price declines, negatively impacting VFSIX's value.

Inflation Expectations: Higher inflation erodes the purchasing power of future fixed income payments, causing bond prices in VFSIX to fall. Lower inflation has the opposite effect.

Fund Flows: Large redemptions may force the fund to sell bonds at potentially unfavorable prices, impacting the NAV. Large inflows may have the opposite effect but are less likely to cause price declines.

Maturity & Duration: Longer maturities are more sensitive to interest rate changes. VFSIX's duration reflects its sensitivity; higher duration means greater price volatility.
