About

SHV.MX refers to the iShares USD Treasury Bond 1-3yr ETF, listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange (Bolsa Mexicana de Valores). This ETF seeks to track the investment results of an index composed of U.S. Treasury bonds with remaining maturities between one and three years. It provides investors with exposure to short-term U.S. government debt, which is generally considered a relatively low-risk investment. The fund allows Mexican investors to gain access to this asset class through a locally traded security.

Factors

Treasury Yields: SHV.MX tracks short-term U.S. Treasury bonds. Rising yields generally decrease its price and falling yields increase it.

Interest Rate Policy: Federal Reserve rate hikes usually depress bond prices, including SHV.MX. Expected future rates also matter.

Inflation Expectations: Higher anticipated inflation can lead to higher yields, reducing SHV.MX value. Lower inflation expectations have the reverse effect.

Credit Risk Sentiment: While SHV.MX holds U.S. Treasuries (virtually risk-free), broader risk aversion can indirectly affect demand and thus price.

Supply and Demand: Increased demand for safe assets can elevate SHV.MX price. Increased supply of similar ETFs could dilute demand and lower price.

ETF Flows: Large inflows to SHV.MX might temporarily increase its price, while large outflows might decrease it, but this effect is usually minimal.
