About

SDS.US is the ProShares UltraShort S&P500 ETF. It is a leveraged exchange-traded fund (ETF) designed to deliver twice the inverse (-2x) of the daily performance of the S&P 500 index. This means if the S&P 500 goes down by 1%, SDS.US is designed to increase by approximately 2%, before fees and expenses. Conversely, if the S&P 500 goes up by 1%, SDS.US is designed to decrease by approximately 2%. Due to the effects of compounding, it's generally not suitable for holding periods longer than a day. It is intended for sophisticated investors seeking short-term exposure to the inverse performance of the S&P 500.

Factors

Inverse Performance: SDS aims to deliver the inverse of the daily performance of the S&P 500. Therefore, the S&P 500's movements have a direct, but opposite, impact.

Management Fees & Expenses: SDS has operating costs, including management fees. These expenses are deducted from the fund's assets, impacting its overall return and price.

Trading Volume & Liquidity: Higher trading volume typically leads to tighter bid-ask spreads, making it easier to buy and sell SDS shares near their intrinsic value. Lower liquidity can widen spreads.
