About

HXT.TO is the Horizons Cdn Select Top Dividend Index ETF. It is an exchange-traded fund listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) that seeks to replicate, to the extent possible, the performance of the Solactive Canada Select Dividend Index, net of expenses. This index is designed to provide exposure to the performance of a portfolio of Canadian dividend-paying stocks selected based on certain dividend sustainability and yield criteria. The ETF offers a tax-efficient structure as it uses a total return index and employs a corporate class structure to minimize taxable distributions. Investors use HXT.TO to gain diversified exposure to Canadian dividend-paying equities in a low-cost and tax-efficient manner.

Factors

Underlying Index Performance: The price of HXT.TO closely tracks the S&P/TSX 60 Index. Significant increases or decreases in the index directly impact the ETF's price.

Supply and Demand: Market demand for HXT.TO units relative to the available supply influences its price. Higher demand can push the price up, while increased selling pressure can lower it.

Management Fees: While not a direct driver of daily price fluctuations, the management expense ratio (MER) charged by the ETF provider reduces the overall return and long-term value of the investment.

Dividend Payments: Dividend distributions from the underlying companies within the index are passed on to HXT.TO holders, which can slightly affect the ETF's price around ex-dividend dates.

Market Sentiment: Overall investor confidence and risk appetite in the Canadian stock market can indirectly impact HXT.TO. Positive sentiment tends to support higher prices, while negative sentiment can lead to declines.
