About

HXDM-U.TO is the Horizons US Dividend Equity ETF (USD Units). It's a Canadian-listed exchange-traded fund that aims to replicate, to the extent possible, the performance of the Solactive US Dividend Masters Index, net of expenses. This index tracks the performance of U.S. companies with a history of consistently increasing their dividend payments. Because it trades in Canadian dollars but invests in US equities, the “-U” designation signifies that the ETF units are priced in and can be purchased using U.S. dollars directly, mitigating currency conversion fees for investors already holding USD.

Factors

Factor affecting HXDM-U.TO: Foreign Exchange Rate: The price of HXDM-U.TO is heavily influenced by the CAD/USD exchange rate. A stronger Canadian dollar relative to the U.S. dollar will decrease the price, as the underlying U.S. equity holdings become less valuable in Canadian dollar terms.

Underlying Index Performance: HXDM-U.TO tracks the Solactive US Equity TR Index. The price of the ETF will fluctuate according to the overall performance of the U.S. equities within this index. Positive index performance increases the ETF price, and vice-versa.

Supply and Demand: General market supply and demand for the HXDM-U.TO ETF can cause deviations from its net asset value. Higher demand generally leads to a price increase, while increased supply can cause the price to decrease.

Management Fees: The annual management expense ratio (MER) charged by the ETF provider will indirectly impact the ETF's performance and therefore its price over time. Higher fees can reduce returns.

Dividend Distributions: The ETF distributes dividends periodically. After a dividend is paid, the ETF's price may decrease by approximately the amount of the dividend, assuming all other factors remain constant.
