About

HOU.TO is a Canadian exchange-traded fund (ETF) that seeks to provide daily investment results, before fees, expenses, distributions, brokerage commissions and other transaction costs, that correspond to two times (200%) the daily performance of the Solactive Canadian Oil & Gas Equity Index. This leveraged ETF is designed for short-term trading and is not suitable for long-term investment strategies due to the effects of compounding, which can significantly deviate from the index's cumulative return over longer periods. Investors should understand the risks associated with leveraged ETFs before investing.

Factors

HOU.TO Price Factors: Crude Oil Price: HOU.TO's price is highly correlated with the price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil, as it is a leveraged ETF designed to magnify the daily returns of oil futures.

Oil Futures Contracts: HOU.TO tracks the daily performance of an underlying index comprised of oil futures contracts. Changes in the prices of these futures contracts directly influence HOU.TO's net asset value (NAV).

Leverage: As a leveraged ETF, HOU.TO aims to deliver twice the daily performance of its underlying index. This leverage amplifies both gains and losses, leading to more volatile price swings compared to non-leveraged oil investments.

Volatility: Increased volatility in the oil market can significantly impact HOU.TO's price. Higher volatility may lead to greater price fluctuations and potential erosion of value due to the effects of compounding.

Interest Rates: Changes in interest rates can affect the cost of holding and rolling over oil futures contracts, which can indirectly impact HOU.TO's price.

Supply and Demand: Global supply and demand dynamics for crude oil influence oil prices and subsequently affect HOU.TO. Factors like OPEC production decisions, geopolitical events, and economic growth play a role.

Currency Exchange Rates: Fluctuations in the exchange rate between the Canadian dollar (CAD) and the US dollar (USD) can impact HOU.TO's price, as oil is typically priced in USD.

Investor Sentiment: Overall investor sentiment towards the oil market and leveraged ETFs can influence HOU.TO's trading volume and price.

Management Fees: The management fees and expenses associated with HOU.TO can slightly reduce its overall return and affect its price over time.

Time Decay: Leveraged ETFs are subject to time decay, also known as beta slippage. This means that over longer periods, the cumulative return of the ETF may not precisely match twice the return of the underlying index, especially in volatile markets.
